It’s been referred to as the architecture of the cosmos and even the fingerprints of God. From the spirals of the Fibonacci sequence found within blooming flowers to the very cellular makeup of the human body. All things are geometry in varied and beautifully complex forms. No matter where you go in the universe or where you look in nature, there’s always one thing that is consistently there: sacred geometry. Sacred geometry forms the very building blocks of civilization, and is found in music, nature, mathematics, art, and technology. Without it, existence would cease to be. Everything can be reduced down to an atom, which is a geometrical form in and of itself. These sacred universal patterns are used to design literally everything in the universe.
The philosopher, mathematician, and mystic Pythagoras of ancient Greece had a whole secret society dedicated to sacred geometry. They would only meet in secret under the cover of night to discuss mathematical discoveries. Only members were allowed to discuss the mysteries and their secret symbol to distinguish one another was the holy pentagram. Pythagoras only allowed those of the keenest minds and men whom already had established regimes of self-discipline into his mystery school. He called his initiated ‘mathematicians’ because it was his belief that all higher knowledge and understanding of the divine began with the study of numbers and geometry. Only through studying the science of numbers could the universal macrocosm mirrored in the earthly microcosm be comprehended by the human mind. In a sense, Pythagoras taught that ‘to know’ sacred geometry was to know God- the source of universal harmony. His avowed mission was to elevate humanity to the point strife would cease upon the Earth both inwardly, and outwardly. Pythagoras had traveled the entirety of known civilization gathering all the knowledge from the wisest and most learned of the age before bringing his message to Greece. Sadly his philosophy and wisdom were far too advanced for the time because his school ended up being burned to the ground. Whether Pythagoras died from the fire, assassination, or of grief isn’t known, but he did acquire political and personal enmity from the ignorant herd of humanity in those days. None the less, he was never seen again after the burning of his sacred school. However, his mission was not wholly a failure. The man had become a legend in his own lifetime and his teachings would not only inspire some of the most famous philosophers in history but bring sacred geometry into the intellectual fold of western civilization.
The thing about sacred geometry is that it appeals to both the right side of the brain and the left. Sacred geometry is contemplative and practical. It is both intellectual and intuitive; having both the masculine and the feminine energies. It may seem like boring math stuff quickly forgotten right after one is done with school, but sacred geometry is far from the mundane geometry learned in common academia. Though it was the Greeks who introduced the sacred science to the west, it’s actually been around since before the dawn of human civilization. The Greeks were late to the party. Sacred geometry had been in use to create the masterful megalithic structures of Europe long before recorded history. It’s commonly seen in ancient Egypt, Sumeria, or any of the other accepted version of histories most ancient cultures. Even in the most remote past, humanity has always had masters who understood the profound nature of this universal geometry.
It may sound crazy, but this simple design of two circles and a line is one of the first steps to understanding sacred geometry. This is known as the Vesica-Pisces, and with circles being one of the most common shapes in nature, it’s profound to realize that all geometric shapes can be determined from circles. So in a sense, this image before you is the building blocks of all that is.
This shape made from the two circles uniting is often referred to as the womb of creation. It represents new life, transformation, change and is all around symbolic for the feminine generation of masculine energy.
With merely a string, straight edge, or a ruler, you can connect all the points on this image to create these geometrical designs, to which also have the elements symbolically linked to them. Straight lines are considered masculine; where curves and circular shapes are considered feminine, and it’s through the union of these opposites that anything is given generation.
From these geometric shapes, all energy is given form to bring about life and structure to the universe. The wisest people in human history considered the study of geometry to be instrumental in bringing to light what’s hidden from the untrained eye and through the study of these geometric designs one could understand the forms, patterns, and numbers that create the mathematical harmony found within all things. Once initiated into the mysteries of sacred geometry one begins to see its influence everywhere they look, and the ideas they can represent through numerical symbolism. Consciousness itself is based on sacred geometry and indeed the language of the universe is hidden numbers. It’s through sacred geometry one can learn that the masculine and feminine energies go far beyond the sexes and are actually found all throughout the cosmos in all things.
The Yin Yang is one of the oldest symbols to represent the union of masculine and feminine energies. Masculine energy is focused, however feminine energy is random and creative. Both are completely equal in every way; just two sides of the same coin. An example of how this energy is in everything is that your conscious mind is masculine and your subconscious mind is feminine. Even our very brains are a good example. The left side of the brain is masculine; it’s practical, orderly, linear, strategic, and to the point. The right side is the feminine; it’s where creativity, art, passion, emotions, and imagination comes from. Even the manliest man and the girliest girly girl have the duality of these energies inside them whether they know it or not. Female energy is brimming with creative potential and endless possibilities. Male energy is logic based and straightforward, incredibly powerful and to the point.
Here in the Fibonacci Spiral, also known as the Golden Ratio (which is found everywhere in nature), we can see a perfect example of these two energies united. The curve inside the rectangle is feminine and the straight lines that make up the geometrical design are masculine. This can even be seen in the bodies of human beings with women having a much more curvy aspect to their physical makeup, whereas men’s bodies are much straighter. Just keep in mind these energies actually have only a small role in sexual orientation and should be considered energies that make up the building blocks of reality itself. Everything that exists in the universe is made of these sacred geometrical designs.
This is the flower of life, which is found in every civilization’s art throughout human history. Oddly enough though it’s found in cultures who never had any interaction with one another, it has always had the same name, the flower of life.
It all starts from a single circle; symbolic for both energy and consciousness. This circle is then continued by another which forms the Vesica-Pisces already mentioned, the generator of all that is. With each new circle, another Vesica-Pisces is formed.
The shape in the center that looks similar to the human eye seems awfully familiar to symbolism from certain secret societies doesn’t it? These circles can be replicated again and again from the Vesica-Pisces to begin to create geometrical designs. One of the first important symmetrical forms we get from this is known as the seed of life, also referred to as the genesis pattern.
These seven circles that create the seed of life have profound meanings to many cultures and is also why the number seven is considered lucky or sacred. Each circle could be considered a day from the biblical creation story. After all, the ancient Hebrews were no strangers to sacred geometry. Chakras are the most well-known form of energy centers in the body, but there’s more than just the chakras from the east concerning energy vortexes within the human body. The tree of life from the Hebrew mystical tradition of Kabbalah for example, which is found within the flower of life. Though the origin of the tree of life as we know it comes from a Hebrew tradition, it’s actually beyond any singular culture, being carved upon pillars in ancient Egypt over 5,000 years ago. In Kabbalistic lore, the tree of life resides within the human body and the flower of life is the aura of energy that surrounds it.
Made from the flower of life, is the egg of life. This requires taking the geometrical design and giving it 3rd-dimensional qualities which looks like this. I’m sure anyone who’s familiar with biology can recognize this design.
This is the 8 cells of life that are the basis for all living things. The whole process of circles that add up to the flower of life is perfectly represented in cell division. You were once a single cell that divided over time to create your very genetic structure, and the body you inhabit.
It seems impossible that this knowledge has been with us as a species so long- though admittedly only known to those who seek higher knowledge. This information was so sacred it was actually hidden from the masses. How it could have been useful to them on a practical level is up for debate since it takes a higher level of understanding to comprehend sacred geometry. Perhaps it was kept a secret to keep away the profane and unworthy from tarnishing something so sacred. This secrecy is represented in the flower of life almost always stopping at 19 circles when being depicted. To those mathematically inclined, it’s obvious this pattern can go on in an infinite manner with no end. So why stop at 19 circles? In biology, all cells have something called a zona pellucida that circles around it. This can be analogous to the circle around the flower of life when being depicted in an art form. When you remove the circle around the flower of life and finish the circles that were cut off you get this.
The 13 circles within the geometric pattern form something called the fruit of life. This knowledge used to be guarded with people’s very lives, not joking. These 13 circles that make up the fruit of life is one of the holiest and most revered geometric patterns ever and was only known to those initiated into the mysteries for thousands of years. We are very lucky that this knowledge is so easily available in our modern information age. You may be wondering why so much feminine geometry since I stated that curves and circles are analogous for feminine energy. Well, you can’t have one without the other.
And when you draw a straight line from every single circle to connect with the other you get another sacred image that has been shrouded in secrecy for millennia, and that’s Metatron’s cube. It’s also important to note that all of the Platonic solid shapes above are found in Metatron’s cube, and all of these shapes are linked to the elements.
Once again we see the building blocks of the universe found in sacred geometry. Though the last element, ether or spirit, is rarely depicted in any objective way to represent its intangibility. Also if anyone ever mentioned the Dodecahedron (which represents ether), the person would be killed then and there. Yes, these geometrical designs were considered intensely sacred. And to show you just how sacred geometry can be both spiritual and scientific even more, I’m sure you’re familiar with this chart.
Every single one of the Platonic solid geometrical shapes can truly be applied to the elements symbolically linked to them on the periodic table. This has been an idea that was laughed at for the longest time in mainstream science until it was proven to be a fact in the 1980s by Professor Robert Moon at the University of Chicago. He proved literally everything in the universe has a basis in these 5 platonic solid geometrical shapes which blew the scientific communities mind. Yet again, our ancient ancestors had knowledge only re-discovered in modern times. From physics, chemistry, and biology, sacred geometry is found in every single scientific field of study.
There’s more concerning sacred geometry that I’ll leave cryptic, these sacred universal patterns play a monumental part in the daily life of every single living thing in the cosmos. Let’s end it with this quote:
“Sacred geometry involves sacred universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality, most often seen in sacred architecture and sacred art. The basic belief is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, cosmology. This value system is seen as widespread even in prehistory, a cultural universal of the human condition.
It is considered foundational to building sacred structures such as temples, mosques, megaliths, monuments and churches; sacred spaces such as altars, temenoi and tabernacles; meeting places such as sacred groves, village greens and holy wells and the creation of religious art, iconography and using “divine” proportions. Alternatively, sacred geometry based arts may be ephemeral, such as visualization, sand painting and medicine wheels.
Sacred geometry may be understood as a worldview of pattern recognition, a complex system of religious symbols and structures involving space, time and form. According to this view the basic patterns of existence are perceived as sacred. By connecting with these, a believer contemplates the Great Mysteries, and the Great Design. By studying the nature of these patterns, forms and relationships and their connections, insight may be gained into the mysteries.”
